Dress Code

Pre-School through age 7 years old

Dancers should wear a “pastel” colored leotard with “pink” ballet tights. Please no two piece outfits. Please no exposed midriffs and all dancers should ALWAYS wear tights. The Ballet slipper is “pink.” Tap shoes for all dancers are beige in color and must have buckles (straps) by show time. Acrobatic shoes are white at this age and of course have the rubber sole. Hair should be pulled back away from the face and off the neck.

Dancers age 8 years and older

A black leotard, pink or tan tights (ballet skirt optional) for ballet class. Hair should be pulled back out of the face and off of the neck. The Ballet slipper is pink; tap shoes are beige colored. A dancer’s acrobatic shoe remains white until the 5th grade, then black. Also, dancers enrolled in a jazz class will need suntan “lace up” jazz shoes by concert time. Again when entering the 5th grade, dancers tap shoe remains beige, but are upgraded to a nicer shoe with a better quality tap. For dance classes other than Ballet or Pointe, you may wear black jazz pants over your leotard… please no 2 piece outfits or midriffs exposed.

Pointe Dancers

Fit is crucial! Please select a shoe that works well for you. This is a shoe you do not buy with “room to grow! We suggest taking the time for a proper fitting!

Modern Dancers

You will need to be able to get your feet bare and exposed. We suggest footless tights and jazz pants.

Hip-Hop Dancers

You may take class now in a jazz shoe or sneaker of any type... HOWEVER by show time, you will need a “black” low top, lace up sneaker... with a black sole. Dance shoe manufacturers make this “dance sneaker,” however many of our students have found a suitable shoe at Wal-Mart or Shoe Carnival type stores. Please consult your teacher if confused on the footwear. Remember you won’t have to have the black shoe till show time.

Adult Dancers

Dancewear is required in all classes. Black or dark colored leotards with appropriate tights are what we prefer. Jazz pants or leggings are also acceptable. Footwear is described above for classes; we will discuss any special needs before concert time. Adult jazz classes wear the black jazz shoe.

Male Dancers

Black jazz pants and white (or black) form fitted T-shirts are appropriate for all classes. All footwear for males is black in color.

Color Day

At the first lesson of the month, a dancer may wear their choice of “colored” dancewear. Again please remain with tights and leotards, no two piece outfits. First lesson of the month only!!

*The dress code is for uniformity in the studio and the development of discipline in the dancer, these dress code policies must be enforced.
**Coverups are to be worn ONLY, to and from the classroom and PARKING LOT, not while dancing.
***Please NO CHEWING GUM in the classroom.
